Speaker Bio
A thoughtful collaborator and voice, Luis brings an inclusive working style, a critical design perspective, and over 30 years of experience to his role as senior principal and education leader in Stantec’s Mid-Atlantic Education Studio. Formerly a university design faculty member and frequently invited juror and critic, Luis has had extensive involvement with higher education, academic master planning, and K-12 education projects both domestically and abroad.
As a member of Stantec’s Education Sector Leadership Council, Luis shares in leadership of the firm’s alternative delivery initiative, exploring new opportunities and methodologies for serving the diversity of needs facing the firm’s education clients.
Luis believes in robust dialogue and values the challenging questions that emerge when clients and colleagues collaborate. “Education is changing. As designers, we need to challenge our fixed views to address emerging use patterns and needs in a relevant, meaningful way.”
