Speaker Bio:

As Director of Major Projects and Special Programs for the Division of Planning, Design, & Construction Miles has essentially “hung up” his Project Manager hard hat, but continues to be involved in a variety of high level decision making nuances of most projects. Miles has been employed in the University of Florida’s office of Planning, Design & Construction (formerly Facilities Planning & Construction) for almost 30 years, first at the J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center and subsequently at the current Stadium office since September of 1986 following 10 years of experience as a General Contractor in private industry. Initially as Projects Coordinator, through Assistant and Associate Director positions and, ultimately, as Director of Major Projects and Special Programs, he has been responsible for managing every aspect of planning, designing and constructing projects and interaction with the associated University personnel in a major University Campus atmosphere. During his tenure in this position, Miles has been personally responsible for the planning, design, and construction of the McKnight Florida Brain Institute, the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building, the Health Professions-Nursing-Pharmacy Building, the Pediatric Dental Clinic on the Edison Campus in Naples, the Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Institute, the Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Hospital and the Proton Beam Therapy Facility at UF’s Jacksonville campus. He has also managed the planning, design, and construction processes for hundreds of minor projects campus-wide as well as all of the State Division of Historic Resources-funded projects in St. Augustine at the UF properties there.
