Owners, architects, engineers, and builders generally agree that the design and construction process is not an exact science.  This uncertainty is a frequent source of conflict for project teams and a major frustration for Owners.  This session will report on two new initiatives stemming from a Dodge report entitled "Managing Uncertainty and Expectations in Building Design and Construction," which was presented at COAA's fall conference in 2015:
  • A Project Planning Guide, which includes a "contingency calculator" worksheet, published this summer by Dodge Data & Analytics
  • A new industry database of actual project cost experience, which is currently in its "pilot" development phase
