Ken Powelson, University of California, San Diego
Ken Powelson is a leader in EHDD's sustainability efforts, including his work as project manager and project architect on the Learning Resources Center at the Marin Country Day School, the first net zero energy classroom building in North America, the second LEED-for-Schools Platinum building in California, and winner of the 2011 San Francisco AIA Excellence in Architecture Honor Award. He has been actively involved in multiple LEED Platinum, Gold, and Silver projects with the firm.
Ken is a member of both the Sustainability and the Quality Control Strategic Groups within EHDD, developing systems to bring sustainability benchmarking and best practices to each one of the firm's projects. Ken has worked on some of EHDD's most complex projects including art museums and science buildings. These projects involve an integrated design process to include multidisciplinary sustainable strategies. He is currently Project Manager for the University of California, San Diego Design & Innovation Building.
Ken received his A.B. from Harvard College and his M.Arch. from the University of California, Berkeley.
