UF Health: A Model of Sustainability & Wellness for Complex Healthcare Environments
Du Meyer (UF Health), Pat Spoden (Flad Architects), and John Chyz (AEI)

UF Health’s new 540,000 SF Heart & Vascular and Neuromedicine hospitals have a combined 216 patient rooms and 15 operating rooms.  Powered by an onsite co-generation plant and incorporating a myriad of sustainable and wellness design strategies, these facilities represent the quintessential example of innovative thought leadership and best-in-class delivery of a highly complex healthcare project.


This presentation will cover the inherent challenges associated with sustainable strategies for complex healthcare environments and will focus on staff/patient wellness and owner/collaborator integration with Green Globes, a green building rating system developed by the Green Building Initiative (GBI).

UF Health: Building Blocks of An Intelligent Hospital
Brad Pollitt (UF Health) and Sanjyot Bhusari (AEI)


UF Health has employed an incremental and deliberate process of becoming an intelligent campus.  At the core of its strategy is a building blocks-based, holistic approach that puts people first.  Here more about this approach and learn about the energy and operational optimization techniques that have produced $5M in savings over the past five years.  UF Health will also discuss opportunities presented by the Internet of Things and will share the collaborative process that its facilities and IT groups are employing.
