Rather than hire a graphic design firm to create a logo – and in keeping with the spirt of The COAA Way itself – COAA chose instead to engage our members to develop and help select the new image.
A “Call To Artists” was presented to the membership last fall, with a request for images that convey the narrative definition of The COAA Way
. A total of 14 images were submitted, and a final shortlist of four was presented at the fall conference in La Jolla, where attendees voted on their favorite.
The selected image was created by … Clayco
! In a simple but effective way, it conveys the idea of an owner-led team creating or improving physical space in a collaborative manner. Three colors represent the critical owner-designer-builder relationship, with the blue & green mirroring COAA’s official logo, but with a purposely different font for the text.
Ultimately, we hope the graphic speaks for itself and can stand alone … an actual stamp that indicates content, processes, actions, people, and the other things that exude and exemplify The COAA Way.
We invite our members to consider and leverage this unique concept as we begin 2019, the year we celebrate COAA’s 25th
anniversary. For example, if you’re trying to convince a colleague to check out a COAA event, explain The COAA Way to them. The next time you overcome a “day job” challenge, ask yourself if the solution is worth sharing with us as an example of The COAA Way.
