Professional Bio

Jere Smith has a career of 30+ years of management and leadership roles in the land planning, architecture, building construction, and real estate development industries. He is a graduate of Clemson University and Southern Polytechnic State University and is a registered Architect in the State of Georgia.

Jere has successfully planned and led development and building construction programs and projects for institutional, commercial, and residential customers including corporate identity and business development, estimating, subcontract negotiation, contract administration, site operations, product liability, claims resolution, and litigation support.

Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of Capital Programs for Atlanta Public Schools and has been responsible for managing the district’s nearly $3 billion in capital asset management and improvement programs. During his tenure, the district’s projects have won more than fifty industry awards. The district’s Capital Improvement Program is recognized on the national, state, and local levels for its practices and achievements.

Jere has presented at numerous conferences and authored papers and articles for a variety of industry publications. He is a past President of COAA’s Georgia chapter; a member of industry advisory boards at Clemson University and Kennesaw State University; a member of the Board of Trustees of Early Learning Property Management; and served previously as President of the Georgia Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments.
