OTI Instructor Bio
John is the head of the Commercial and Construction Practice Group at the Kitch firm, headquartered in Detroit (MI), where he has been practicing for more than 30 years. In addition to serving as counsel to COAA, he is on the American Arbitration Association panel of neutrals and serves as a mediator in construction and commercial matters in various industries.
John focuses his practice in representing and advising Owners on construction and real estate matters including financing, project delivery methods, contract development, claims avoidance, and dispute resolution. He has litigated, arbitrated or mediated matters across the country involving projects as diverse as educational institutions, health care facilities, civil infrastructure projects, power generation facilities, condominium projects, and special purpose research and manufacturing facilities.
John has argued and presented on various forms of schedule analysis and development, and he is the editor of the State-by-State Guide to Architect, Engineer, and Contractor Licensing, published by Wolters Kluwer. He is also active with the Construction Specifications Institute, the National Association of Construction Auditors, Building Owners and Managers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
