Michael E. Kenig Impact and Service Award

COAA recently announced the creation and presentation of the first Michael E. Kenig Impact and Service Award to its namesake – Mike Kenig, Vice Chairman of Holder Construction Company.
Kyle Majchrowski, an executive with Banner Health and former member of COAA’s Board of Directors, spoke for many in noting that the award was well deserved:
“So many of us are involved in COAA in some way because Mike tapped us on the shoulder and said something. He is a master of identifying talent, contributors, and just plain ole good people who have it in their hearts to make a difference. Mike has made contributions and impacts to our industry in so many ways.”
Kenig has a 20-year record of unwavering devotion to COAA, its mission, and its health & growth. This includes heavy involvement with COAA’s Owner Training Institute®, 15 or more years of service on the Conference Committee, and industry-wide leadership on the skilled workforce shortage issue. He has also been instrumental in helping form or restart several COAA Chapters and has worked tirelessly to promote participation and membership in COAA.
Kenig begin working for Holder after graduating from Purdue University in 1986. Since then, he has dedicated his career to making a difference in the construction industry, particularly in the area of workforce development. In 2018 he was elected to the National Academy of Construction and previously served as an adjunct instructor at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
“The Kenig” will be presented periodically to COAA’s most outstanding Owner or Associate member volunteer.
