The BOAT

The Building Owner’s Assessment Tool (BOAT) was created by University of Washington researchers as an offshoot of a research project with the Charles Pankow Foundation regarding design-build delivery.

Using the BOAT, Owners can reflect on their decision-making structures, culture, risk tolerance, and other factors to determine which project delivery method(s) are best aligned with their organizational characteristics.  The results may also help the Owner and its partners be proactive in addressing Owner strengths & weaknesses for a given delivery method before the project begins.
