The scholarship, named in honor of Al Phillips, a founding member and former general counsel of COAA, recognizes the significance of education in fostering success for individuals pursuing a career in the design and construction industry.
COAA firmly believes that education plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our industry. Therefore, we take immense pride in awarding the Albert E. Phillips Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to deserving college students who demonstrate a passion for the design and construction field.
The winners of the 2023 Albert E. Phillips Scholarship were revealed at the COAA Connect Spring 2023 Conference, on Tuesday, May 9th. The announcement was made by Ginger Smith, Senior Facilities Construction Project Manager at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Natalie Branand, a student at the University of Georgia, was one of the talented recipients of this year's scholarship. Natalie has shown exceptional dedication and promise in her pursuit of a career in the design and construction industry. Her exemplary academic achievements, coupled with her commitment to excellence, set her apart as a deserving recipient of the Albert E. Phillips Scholarship.
The second recipient, Zachary Merritt from Michigan State University, also earned the honor of being named a winner.
