On July 25, COAA CA and UC San Diego hosted an engaging guided tour led by Abigail Babaeian of the Ridge Walk North Living Learning Neighborhood, a project currently under construction. The tour began with a hardhat visit to this new neighborhood, highlighting the innovative design and construction efforts underway.

Following this, we walked to the first Living Learning Neighborhood completed in 2021 for Sixth College.  Matt Smith, for this development led the tour, sharing valuable insights into the project's completion and its impact on campus life.

Our next stop was the Epstein Amphitheater, completed in 2023, located next to the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley. Kyle Schertzing, who was part of the original design team, guided this portion of the tour. The amphitheater enhances the connection between UC San Diego and the broader community, reflecting the university's dynamic energy and serving as a welcoming entrance to the campus.

The Living Learning Neighborhood projects are integral to UC San Diego’s vision of providing a four-year housing guarantee for all students who wish to live on campus. Over the past 5-7 years, the university has made significant strides, adding 10,000 new beds either completed or currently under construction.

The tour concluded at Ridge Walk Social, offering a chance for networking and a well-deserved break from the unusually hot San Diego weather. The event received excellent feedback and sparked interest in future events, underscoring the success of the day's activities.
